The committee
members are putting the final touches on plans for the 25th anniversary of the Needville
Harvest Festival which is scheduled for October 17 & 18, 2008, and promises to
be the biggest and best yet. This fun filled, family oriented festival began in
1983. In the beginning, the NHF, Inc. envisioned having a festival each year to
draw visitors to Needville and generate business, raise funds for community
development to make Needville a better place to live, and give annual
scholarships to local graduating students.
The first 20
festivals were held on main street in Needville. This year marks the 6th year
for the festival to be held at the Needville Harvest Park which is located on
Highway 36 in Needville behind the KC Hall.
Needville's
Harvest Park comes alive the third Saturday in October every year as thousands
of people take part in the fun and entertainment. There will be nearly 100
vendors in the park, selling items such as beautiful handmade crafts (just in
time for the holiday season), toys and games, woodwork items, clothing, jewelry,
antiques, yard art, etc.
The Harvest
Festival organizers hope everyone attending the festival will come hungry as
there will be a large variety of delicious foods sure to satisfy anyone's
appetite. Food varieties include Bar-B-Que, hamburgers, hot dogs, fries, shish
kabobs, sausage on a stick, corn dogs, corn on the cob, turkey legs, funnel
cakes, etc.
There will also be soft drinks and a
beirgartens to help quench thirst.
This years festival
will be tapped of by a huge firworks display at 9:30 but other major draws are the
talent contest, the Little Mr. & Miss contest, the Harvest Festival Queen
Contest, an auction and a Bar-B-Que cook-off, musical entertainment all day long
and other activities for
all ages including a carnival, games and rides, face painting, and much, much
more.
